Of all regions and trekkings, there is the One that rules all, the famous Annapurna base camp trek. Annapurna is home to many of the best of Nepal treks, with some of the world’s highest mountain views including Annapurna I (8,091m / 10th highest). While the foothills are dominated by diverse ethnic groups with their charming villages and terraced farms, higher reaches are pristine and inhabited only by shepherds. We will come across the several view points with world famous Himalayan views. The trekking is the best insight into the Nepalese mountain lifestyle, ethnic diversity and a moderate adventure in the Himalayas.
Our trek starts from Pokhara, the second largest but most beautiful city of Nepal. Pokhara is known as lake city with an amphitheatre of mountains. Annapurna range shows here its northern wall. This is a base for several treks in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
We drive 53 km / 2.5hrs to the trekking start and head up over thousands of stone steps to Ghorepani first. Ghorepani or its top Poon Hill (3,200 m) that offers a splendid view of about 15 snow peaks including Dhaulagiri I (8,167m / 7th highest), Annapurna I (8,091m / 10th highest) and Manaslu (8,156m / 8th highest). This is the start for the second part. Hence we will walk through the rhododendron forest to Chhomrong village across the Annapurna South. From here one can enjoy the heights of Annapurna South and Fishtail. The trail further enters into the narrow valley wedged between Annapuran south and Fishtail. At Fishtail base camp (3,700 m), we come to meadows and glacial moraine with relatively bright and wide valley. We arrive at Annapurna base camp (4,200 m) with snow peaks in an unforgettable 360 degree.
After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you'll be welcomed by a representative from Himalayan Dream Team who will escort us to your hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, you’ll check in, freshen up, and have some time to rest. In the evening, Himalayan Dream Team will host a welcome dinner for us. We will spend the night in Kathmandu
After breakfast, we'll take you on a tour of Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhanath Stupa, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Durbar Square offers insights into the lives of royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath Temple holds great significance as a pilgrimage site for Hindus. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa, one of the world's largest stupas, are both iconic landmarks.
At tour, we will gather with our fellow participants at our office to introduce ourselves and discuss your upcoming trip.
After breakfast you will drive by tourist bus to Nepal's most enchanting city, Pokhara (200km). On the route we will see more of the amazing countryside of Nepal that offers greeneries, rivers, villages, farms and beautiful mountain sceneries. In the afternoon, we will arrive. The city is famous for its magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, the five peaks of Annapurna. It is the starting point for all the adventurous trekkings. Pokhara is also called the city of lakes and has numerous beautiful lakes. You can explore the most accessible and beautiful of it, Fewa Lake during the afternoon -also by taking a boat. Explore, relax and dine by this tranquil Lake Fewa. You can even do some shopping during evening hours in the colorful streets alongside the lake.
After breakfast we drive in about two hours to the trekking starting point at Hile, an enchanting village with mix culture , lifestyle, traditions. We pass through sub tropical valley forests, sometimes on the carved trail on the side of the cliff. After lunch, we cross the Modi Khola (river) via a suspension bridge to the village of Tikhedhunga. The Ulleri Hill with thousands of steps and boulders that continually go upward would really prove a test of our stamina.
We make our ascent to the Ghorepani village. The name Ghorepani in Nepali means horse-water owing to its role as an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker’s stop. Ghorepani is an interesting place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and craft. The town has two parts: one in a saddle and the other a few hundred feet lower. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop, we begin to feel the chilly weather especially in the evenings.
Today will be a special day because we conquer Poon Hill- an icon of Annapurna region. To catch the magnificent splendour of sunrise over the Himalayas, we make an early morning climb along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3200mtrs). Poon Hill (3,210m) is a great viewpoint from where we will be able to enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Mustang part and Pokhara valleys including the closest views of more than 20 highest mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The snowy peaks of the high mountains loom above and around us glowing in the morning light. After taking photos and having some coffee or tea or hot chocolate, we return back to Gorepani. Upon breakfast, we head east and climb a nearby ridge. We descend through rhododendron forest, pass by spectacular waterfalls along the way and reach Tadapani.
Tadapani is a small village from there the trail divides for Chorong and Ghandrung. The south trail goes to Ghandrung, you have to take the eastern one for Chomrong. From here, the way goes down through dense forest to Gurajon village that lies just after the suspension bridge. Then onwards, no more ups & downs till Chomrong village. Chomrong is a beautiful village located on the lap of giant Annapurna massive. It's a typical Gurung village but now is modernized and has almost lost its culture & traditions.
After breakfast in Chhomrong, you'll stroll through a forest with ferns, oaks, bamboo, and rhododendrons. The forest will get denser, and the paths might dim a bit. You'll see birds, animals, and flowers along the way. Passing Bamboo (2300m) and Dovan (2500m), this part of the trek is peaceful, with waterfalls, rivers, and gentle slopes
Time to head towards the highlight of your trek! Today will be incredibly exciting as you pass through stunning spots like Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m) and Deurali (3200m). The higher you climb, the more breathtaking the trails become. Green meadows, farms, waterfalls, and picturesque views make every step worthwhile. The highlight? The majestic mountain views from Machhapuchhre Base Camp are unbeatable. Don't miss the mesmerizing glaciers along the riverside. From Machhapuchhre Base Camp, it's just a few hours of walking on a flat path to reach Annapurna Base Camp.
From Annapurna Base Camp the route rapidly descends past the Machhapuchhre Base camp, Deurali, Himalayan Hotel and Doban and comes Bambo.
The route passes through beautiful fields of rhododendron flowers, oaks and bamboo. We trek through Sinuwa, cross the Chhumrung Khola and continue on to Chhumrung Village. From here it is downhill to Jhinu Danda. Jhuiu Danda is small local commercial village where we stay tonight. For those with enough energy there is a 20 min walk to a nearby hot water spring to relax all those muscles.
After last breakfast of trekking we'll walk along the right side of the Modi Khola (River) from Jhinu for 3 to 4 hours until we reach Syauli Bazaar, where our trek concludes.
Today's walk is one of the most enjoyable and peaceful parts of the entire trek. We'll take a break in Syauli Bazaar to relax for a bit.
Afterward, we'll drive to Pokhara. The road to Nayapul is rough and bumpy since it was recently constructed, so expect a challenging and bumpy ride.
There is a choice between a 25 minute flight to Kathmandu or, we start our 200 kilometers drive by tourist bus back to Kathmandu. In both cases you can enjoy the scenery, but from the car you will witness the beauty of Nepali nature far more better when you drive along the Trisuli river. On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel.
After breakfast or lunch, depending on your flight time, we will transfer you to the international airport or if you leave by evening you can put your luggage at the Hotel and enjoy the city one final day
